This is the video and some photos of the ceremony. It is a bit tough to hear because of all the ambient noise and the cavernous hall. I think you are able to hear most of what Bob (our justice of the peace), said. Bob did a wonderful job with no coaching from us. Try to hear what he is saying. I think it will serve as a good reminder for years to come.
Behind us there is an auditorium that was having a performance in celebration of First Night (New Year's Eve). Serendipitously, applause broke out just as we finished our ring ceremony. For an instant I did think they were clapping for us.
There was something really fun about doing this so publicly, with people walking all around us. Behind the video camera was a hall with doors to municipal offices. I was told that government workers were peering through the doors during the ceremony. I hope it brightened their day a bit.
When Vermont passed marriage equality in September, we knew it was time for us to tie the knot. It seemed to be the signal we were waiting for. Seth was born in Vermont and lived there for his first 30 years.
We spent months discussing what the wedding should be. We settled on a small civil ceremony with our immediate families present, followed by dinner. We decided to do it at City Hall in Burlington. Seth lived and worked in Burlington for 13 years. We knew everyone would enjoy their time there.
Thank you for visiting our wedding blog. We created this blog to share our magical day with those of you who could not be with us. We will add content post by post until we piece together the whole event. Please visit often, as it may take awhile to complete. You can become a follower of the blog and be notified when something new is posted. Also, please feel free to leave comments. We'd love to hear from you.
Love,
Ron and Seth
PS. Many of the wonderful photos you will see on this blog were made by Seth's father, Ralph and his wife, Elaine. The videos were shot by my sister-in-law Ingrid (who knew she was a closet filmmaker). We are so appreciative that they documented our day and helped make beautiful memories.
